Grade: (7) High Distinction
This project concentrated on the graphic aspects of visual communication design to provide an expansive and critical understanding of this discipline and its social context. It included a number of approaches to visual problem solving that provide both logical as well as intuitive ways of arriving at solutions to design problems. The ability to select appropriate strategies is as important as the ability to apply those strategies. This project had to embrace sustainable design practice, analyse design problems and develop and apply sustainability principles and solutions to a communication design project.
My entrepreneurial venture was a small business called 'Knick knack knots', which main purpose was to provide upcycled second chance waste into art and offer a popular way to decorate with macrame, bringing texture and warmth into a home. Made with 100% repurposed materials, this product range includes a wall décor hanging, a plant holder and a keychain. All products will be reducing impact on the environment, and made from reused plastics, scrap materials and craft waste. Knick knack knots aimed to create unique forms of macrame to regain popularity of this
crafting technique which can change the way of the circular consumable community.
Everything is a resource, there is no such thing as waste.
