Grade: (7) High Distinction
Theory, research methods and design practice skills integrated together as solution focused 'praxis' in this capstone course. I had to combine my discipline specific technical and procedural skills with a range of design research methods and procedures that I had learnt throughout my entire design degree, to ideate, plan design, project manage and produce a creative, human focused solution to a specified problem. The design outcome of this project was expected to represent my potential as an emerging design professional.
For my major project, I created visual communication strategies and a professional platform for a new skin cancer treatment in Australia.
Using a real-life scenario as the basis for my university project was an excellent way to apply theoretical knowledge to practical situations and enhance my learning experience.
Creating visual communication strategies for a skin cancer treatment involved developing a comprehensive plan to convey information effectively to the target audience. Healthcare marketing is so important now more than ever, as this post covid society has left consumers more aware of their healthcare needs and what the industry has to offer.
I designed visually appealing and informative brochures, posters, infographics, and interactive digital media for this campaign. The objective of my project was to educate the public, patients, and healthcare professionals about the treatment and its benefits

By developing a professional platform for this new skin cancer treatment, demonstrated my ability to create a cohesive and user-friendly interface that facilitates easy access to information, resources, and services.
In the process of creating my major project, I conducted extensive research on skin cancer treatment options, the latest advancements, and the specific needs of the Australian population. This research allowed me to understand the challenges, existing gaps, and potential opportunities in the field. I collaborated with 2 healthcare professionals and experts in the field to gather insights and ensure the accuracy and effectiveness of my strategies and platform.
Overall, by leveraging a real-life scenario, my major project has provided me with a valuable opportunity to contribute to the field of skin cancer treatment while honing my skills and knowledge in visual communication, user experience design, and project management.
