In November 2022 I was selected to undergo a 6 week design and marketing internship in Seoul, South Korea, with the Marketing team of IDP Education.
📍 Location: Gangnam, Seoul, South Korea
Grade: (7) High Distinction
Every year, Griffith University give Business students a unique opportunity to undertake a transformational work integrated learning (WIL) experience.
Out of over 500 competitive students applying for a spot in the program, I was selected with 5 other students to represent Griffith University to undertake a full-time, unpaid 6 week internship with a company in Asia.
My internship destination was chosen for me - ultimately to offer maximum exposure to the vibrant Asian economy in businesses, government offices, or not-for profit organisations that are innovators in their field. This course was part of the Griffith Asia Institute (GAI) initiative to offer meaningful Asia experiences to Griffith students. I was matched with a placement that best aligned with my academic discipline and career aspirations, which would advance my academic interests, experiential immersion, and vocational intentions with appropriate Asian connections.
The aim of this course was to increase my skills and experience in the workplace enhancing employability at the time of graduation. By the end of the course, I developed advanced skills in areas that are in high demand by employers, such as, problem solving, working in teams, critical analysis, time management, networking, and innovation (all while undertaking a marketing internship in a foreign country).
This has been my biggest achievement and opportunity of my career so far!
As a marketing and graphic design student, I thought another way to show my learning and experience could be through creating content!
Not only does this capture all the amazing things that I get up to, but it allowed me to share my adventures with my family and friends back home so they can also stay up to date with what I do in Korea.
I figured not only I could include the vlogs in my overall reflection, but these videos can be kept for my own records and have personally for me to reflect on in years to come
Here's a quick overview of some of the designs I created in Korea:
